The goal is to have the city of West Palm Beach pass and implement a single use plastic straw ordinance which will help keep single use plastic straws from entering our marine environment.
In February of 2019, our Palm Beach County Chapter activists began advocating for a plastic straw ordinance in West Palm Beach. The reduction of plastic straws helps to decrease the need for fossil fuels, which are used for these wasteful and lightweight single use plastics which often end up as litter in our marine environments.
On March 12, 2019, the city voted to pass the ordinance!
